Leprechaun with Pot of gold

Leprechaun with Pot of gold

St. Patricks Day is coming soon and having a hubby whose Irish really puts me in the holiday spirit.

Perusing the web, I found a crochet pattern from RedHeart for the holiday.

Isn’t this adorable!! You could even create an “Elf on the shelf” experience. Every morning you’d find your leprechaun in a misadventure!

Best of all the Leprechaun pattern is free!

Setting up Goals

Setting up Goals

Every year I find myself struggling throughout the holidays trying to finish gifts I started WAY too late in hopes of giving them as Christmas/Birthday gifts. NO MORE!

I have set a plan on what I want to make for gifts and have started now. I will take a break here and there so I don’t feel like stabbing myself with the crochet hooks. This will be the year of afghans and ummm….other stuff.

CAL Cross Stitch Square 1

CAL Cross Stitch Square 1

First square / pattern for the Red Heart CAL. The square worked up pretty quick so I decided to make 4 afghans / squares.

Each square is roughly 10×10. I really like blue and off-white colors.

A simple Granny square with a twist! By turning after each round, it defines each row.

CAL Granny Square 2

CAL Granny Square 2

I have crocheted MANY granny squares but they are always done without turning. This pattern calls for turning after every row. Who would have thought that a little turn would define each row so much! I love it!

Crochet Granny Turn Square

The CAL calls for making 10 Granny squares each. Since I’m making 4 afghans (ie 4 different yarns), I have to make 40 total squares!

Holy Frijoles BATMAN!

Crochet Cross Stitch

Crochet Cross Stitch

The crochet cross stitch pattern is very easy to do and looks difficult. A combination of words that EVERY crochet dreams about!

To create the first row, you’ll be single crocheting into only the back loops of the chain. Working into the back loops ensures a smooth edge for you to crochet the border over later.

The second row starts off with a chain 3 to count as the first double crochet. Since…
